About Martin
When I was younger, I envisioned a senior engineer as someone who could build an entire platform from scratch—from frontend to backend and infrastructure. That vision drove me to explore different company sizes, from big names like Amazon to mid-sized companies like Hootsuite and Mogo, and eventually smaller environments like Placeholder.
For the last 4 years, I’ve been building platforms from scratch at Placeholder and in my contract work. I’ve worked across the stack, using React for the frontend, Go for the backend, and Python for scripting. I’ve managed both monolithic and microservice architectures, using Docker and Kubernetes for containerization and CircleCI and GitHub Actions for CI/CD pipelines. I also leveraged Terraform for AWS infrastructure.
Now, I can build the kind of systems I once aspired to, but I know there’s always more to learn. I’m aiming to deepen my software engineering practices and processes while increasing my impact by contributing to high-traffic systems and learning from new challenges.
